Easter Weekend was a reminder for me of how great our part of New Zealand is and why we have all made the choice to live here.

What struck me was not just the brilliant weather (which we all probably take for granted), but the quality and range of the events that were on offer, and how they catered for everyone.

The National Jazz Festival was a huge success again. Congratulations to the organisers, who, year after year, put on a must-see event. Much like Tauranga, the Festival gets bigger and better every year. We took Emlyn and Harry along with us –. Natalie and I are hoping we can replace some of their CDs with some from our own collection for those long car rides!

On a slightly more traditional note, we also visited the Easter Journey show put on by the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Easter is a great opportunity to spend some quality time with family, but also a good time to reflect and think about the origins of this holiday.

Tauranga has great events on year-round, perfect for young families such as ours and for keeping the kids entertained. With Anzac Day approaching there are exhibitions such as the From Tauranga to the Trenches at the Classic Flyers Museum, and the photograph display at the Tauranga Art Gallery. I encourage you to support these fantastic acknowledgements of the sacrifices everyday Kiwis made.
