New cases of Covid-19

It was a shock to hear the return of a small number of Covid-19 cases in New Zealand.

While cases have only been identified in Auckland, Tokoroa and the Waikato, it is still of great concern to our community. I appreciate the uncertainty and stress this may cause businesses and families here in Tauranga.

If you have questions or concerns that I may be able to help with, please get in touch with my office, either by email [email protected] or call us on 577 0923.

I’ve also provided contact details below for the Covid-19 Healthline and Government agencies that may be able to assist you.

Release of National’s Law and Order policies

As National’s Justice spokesperson, I joined Judith Collins to announce our Law and Order policies recently.

National has a proud record of reducing offending, improving community safety and helping break the cycle of intergenerational family violence and abuse.

We will make New Zealand a safe place to live, work and raise a family through effective policies that fight crime.

You can read more about our policies here: National will Tackle Crime & keep Kiwis Safe

Door knocking with the CNI Young Nats

With elections comes lots of knocking on doors and meeting as many local people as possible. I couldn’t do it without all the great volunteers that come out and help me.

Recently a great team of Young Nats came out with me to door knock around The Lakes. It was great fun having them along to meet lots of local people and hear about what matters to them this election.

With the Covid-19 announcements we have stopped all election activities, but I look forward to getting out and about door knocking as soon as I can.

Hoardings around town

By now you will have seen hundreds of election hoardings up around Tauranga.  My team of volunteers have done a fantastic job putting up more than 250.

Thank you to those who have given up space on their property and taken the time to help. I really appreciate your support.

If you have any fence space you want to donate, let my campaign team know. Email [email protected] or call 021 707 773

Visit to Otumoetai Intermediate School

It was great to visit and talk to the students of Otumoetai Intermediate recently. The school put on a special assembly where their 900 students attended and put some questions to me.

I always enjoy meeting young people and having the opportunity to answer their questions.

Out and about with local businesses

Over the last few months I have been visiting as many local businesses as possible to see how they’re doing since the lockdown ended.

It has been invaluable hearing everyone’s experiences and I’ve been really impressed by how people have rallied despite the many difficulties caused by the lockdown.

If you’re interested in having me drop by, get in touch with my office, call Maree on 577 0923.

Live interview with The Spinoff

A few weeks ago I took part in the Politics in Pubs series being run by The Spinoff and Verb Wellington.

While they didn’t hold back on the tough questions, it was great fun and a good opportunity for a free and frank chat about politics.

You can check it out here: The Spinoff - Politics in Pubs
